    If Remote Desktop Services (RDS) are activated on Windows Server 2012, numerous extended options are available for logging on to the server remotely. This is only necessary when users log into their profile remotely and become productive.

    Desktop applications can be started via the remote connection. This can be a word processor or an enterprise resource planning system. The assigned permissions from the Active Directory and the group policies are taken into account.

    The User CAL (Client Access License) is stored on the Windows Server 2012 and queried during a connection. In the remote administration, however, the user must be granted the right to a remote connection. One User CAL is required for each authorized user.
