Microsoft Remote Desktop Services 2012 Device CAL
Remote Desktop Services (RDS) have been an integral part of Windows Server 2008 and replaced Terminal Services. In the meantime, the RDS comprise a whole range of options for logging on to a server via a remote connection. The connection type plays only a subordinate role here.
In order to log on to Windows Server 2012 remotely, the corresponding Remote Services must be activated. The license offered here refers to server access by a device. The accessing device, which can be a computer, smartphone, laptop or tablet, is stored in the license management. The license itself may only be issued once. A Device CAL is particularly recommended for computers where the user logon is not defined to a single user. Depending on the network configuration, a Device CAL is also required for network printers.
